Personal: A Friend’s Wedding

I was surprised when I first heard of the news that Cherry, one of my college friends, is actually getting married. I thought that it was just a hoax since my College friends are fond of jokes and stuff. But this time, it wasn’t. I actually didn’t believe it, not until a friend sent the invitation thru email. Thus, we (the ever “bahala na” friends) began planning on how to get there, what gift we should buy, and who will chip-in on that gift.

Saturday, October 27, 2007 - Cherry’s wedding day, everything was settled (sort of):

  • Aireen to bring the gift since she’s the one who organized everything.
  • Milfe to bring her van as our transportation.
  • Meeting Place: Mcdonald’s Quezon Ave at 9 am (the wedding was 10 am at Taguig…oh man, the usual us…).

At around 9:30 am, we left Mcdonald’s and headed our way to pick up 2 of our friends at MRT Buendia station. Everything was going smooth until, after passing the MRT Buendia Station - along EDSA, the front right tire of the van burst. Damn! Good thing was that we were running at a slow pace since we’re looking for our friends that we were supposed to pick-up. After moving towards the emergency bay, we began attempting to change the damaged tire. However, Milfe’s car jack is broken at will not be able to do any help at all. So, we were left with no other choice but to ask taxi drivers to lend us their jacks. But, none of them were able to provide help since their jacks were only capable of supporting a car, not an MB100 van. We were running out of options. A couple minutes after, while we’re still trying to figure out how we can change the damaged tire, an MMDA officer was already walking towards us, and an MMDA towing truck was also on its way. Good thing, Milfe was able to talk our way out of being towed (being an artist do have its own perks should I say *wink*).

After the damaged tire was changed, which was already 10:30 am, we continued our long and winding journey, and I do mean long and winding. We reached the church at pass 11:00 am (I think), since the wedding ceremony was already finished. So we decided to go to Cherry’s house, where the wedding reception was done. There, we met the bride and the groom. They were already eating when we arrived, so, we also started getting food. Hehe. I guess, my joke to the bride before (“Saan ba yung reception, dun na lang kami pupunta?”) came true after all. Anyways, food was good, especially the Caldereta and Fish Fillet with mayo. After eating, we took some pictures, had conversations with the bride and the groom, had a couple of laughs, and the couple opened our gifts.

At the end of it all, after every trouble that we've encountered (I didn’t mention everything just to make the long story short), all of us are happy knowing that our friend is finally settling down. We just wish that they'll be happy and blessed…forever. :)

Below are some pictures that I took while the damaged tire was being replaced, during the wedding reception, and at Music 21 (where we went after).

Web: Chuck Norris

I was on my regular stumbling routine when I stumbled upon this Chuck Norris Flash Game. This Chuck Norris thing began when Nathan discovered the Chuck Norris Facts website. I was also stumbled upon a Chuck Norris Widget for the Mac site. If you still didn't get enough Chuck Norris, here's more.

Edit:
I thought I had enough...

News: Makati (Glorietta) Bombing

It was after our lunch break (1:30 pm Manila Time) when the bombing at Glorietta happened. Our office is just a couple of minutes away from the place. I was on the verge, sort of, of completing my Objective Settings and Self-Assessment when the police/ambulance siren started waling along Ayala Avenue. We were then notified that an explosion occurred at Glorietta. We were not that alarmed since the information was that it was caused by a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). Later on, it was announced that a bomb caused the explosion. We, then, started monitoring the event through the internet (GMA and ABS-CBN news). Good thing, we (me and my officemates) didn't have any plans on going to Glorietta to have lunch. As usual, our company's security team was late in their announcement. Moving on... Later that night, while watching the news on tv, I got goosebumps when they showed a video of what was happening inside the mall during the explosion, lady (guard) screaming, hazy background, tensed atmosphere. Damn frightening!

Personal: Anniversary

It has been 7 years since Bige said, on a rainy night, under our 3-folds umbrella, behind a pick-up van whatever, in front of her aunt's house, with a smile on her face, and an unnoticeable, unrecognizable shock and surprise on mine: "May sasabihin ako sa iyo...Tayo na...". This phrase placed an important smiley mark on my calendar...a reminder to me that I have the best reason to celebrate, the girl that I admired for a long time, and I mean a loooong time, is now my girlfriend. Happy Anniversary Baby! I love you very much! And, thank you for everything. :)

Here are some of our pics when we were a little...uh...younger...hehe

Now, back to my normal un-mushy self. :)

Edit:
We went to Mall Of Asia to celebrate our anniversary. We watched Apat Dapat, Dapat Apat, a local comedy film starred by Ruffa Mae Quinto, Candy Pangilinan, Pokwang, and Eugene Domingo. A film about the friendship of four individuals where one character sorta "always" died.
IMO, the characters can be compared to that of Southpark's. Anyway, the movie was not very funny all through out, but I did have some good laughs (Eugene and Candy are very good, should I say).

We bought a gift for my mom, since it was her birthday last October 12. We bought this, a glass picture frame..err..cube, and this, a match-like stirrer, from Dimensione.
I have to admit that I was fascinated with the simple-yet-stylish items sold at Dimensione. And I'm still aiming to buy some things there. :)

Bige and I had dinner at Italianni's. I have to commend their Choco Espresso Latte, it was just soooo great. Oh, and there was a scheduled fireworks display. We thought we'll able to watch it comfortably since our table was outside the resto, with a nice view of the bay. However, the people started to gather around our table when the fireworks display began. It was very annoying. I was not able to enjoy the fireworks since they were gathered around us (I can't leave the table because they might get our pizza and lasagna...lol).

Here are some of our pics: Pic 1, Pic 2, Pic 3, Pic 4, Pic 5, Pic 6

To my HS Barkada, here are our pictures taken during our last "reunion" at Redbox, Trinoma (I'm too lazy now that I didn't even thought of putting titles/captions).

Personal: Tokyo Cafe

It's my parent's 22nd wedding anniversary today, so I had to leave the office early to be able to make it on time for dinner. Unfortunately, Bige was not able to make it since she had to go back to the office to finish some work, considering that she was already at SM. :(

Moving on...

6pm, typical rush hour, I had to walk my way (again) to the MRT station since all the PUJ's were fully-loaded. Did I mention that it was raining? Actually, the rain was not an issue at all, at least it wasn't hot. But that was not the case when I reached the MRT station! The long queue to enter the station, long wait for the train, people pushing their way inside the train, no hand-rails to hold on to, no fan (well, the aircon wasn't even reaching the middle part of the train...so it's hot), and the sweaty atmosphere that every passenger had to endure...fortunately I'm taller than them, so I had a bit of fresh air, just a bit...oh, and I saw my elementary friend, Mark Alcantara, we were buddies back then.

My family had dinner at Tokyo Cafe in SM's The Block. It was my first time to eat there. At first, as the resto name suggests, I thought they serve Japanese dishes and stuff similar to Teriyaki boy and Tokyo Tokyo but I was wrong. They serve pizza, burger, pasta, milkshakes, salad, and some deep fried dishes. The only Japanese dish that they serve, as far as I can recall and know, were the deep-fried dishes. And, they greet in Nihonggo. Anyway...We ordered Seafood Mix Fry (deep fried shrimp, squid, and fish), Chicken Cheese Roll (deep fried chicken roll with mozzarella cheese inside), Mango Chicken Salad (typical salad with chicken and mango...duh), and White Cheese Carbonara (carbonara...again, duh). The dishes are good, but not good enough. The price is not worth it. But, I really liked the dip for the Seafood Mix Fry. It was a bit sour, and at the same time, sweet. Loved it. Oh! and the Oreo Milkshake, it was good...just some happy hormones. ^__^

Above everthing, I'm glad that my mom and dad are happy together.
