Personal: A Friend’s Wedding

I was surprised when I first heard of the news that Cherry, one of my college friends, is actually getting married. I thought that it was just a hoax since my College friends are fond of jokes and stuff. But this time, it wasn’t. I actually didn’t believe it, not until a friend sent the invitation thru email. Thus, we (the ever “bahala na” friends) began planning on how to get there, what gift we should buy, and who will chip-in on that gift.

Saturday, October 27, 2007 - Cherry’s wedding day, everything was settled (sort of):

  • Aireen to bring the gift since she’s the one who organized everything.
  • Milfe to bring her van as our transportation.
  • Meeting Place: Mcdonald’s Quezon Ave at 9 am (the wedding was 10 am at Taguig…oh man, the usual us…).

At around 9:30 am, we left Mcdonald’s and headed our way to pick up 2 of our friends at MRT Buendia station. Everything was going smooth until, after passing the MRT Buendia Station - along EDSA, the front right tire of the van burst. Damn! Good thing was that we were running at a slow pace since we’re looking for our friends that we were supposed to pick-up. After moving towards the emergency bay, we began attempting to change the damaged tire. However, Milfe’s car jack is broken at will not be able to do any help at all. So, we were left with no other choice but to ask taxi drivers to lend us their jacks. But, none of them were able to provide help since their jacks were only capable of supporting a car, not an MB100 van. We were running out of options. A couple minutes after, while we’re still trying to figure out how we can change the damaged tire, an MMDA officer was already walking towards us, and an MMDA towing truck was also on its way. Good thing, Milfe was able to talk our way out of being towed (being an artist do have its own perks should I say *wink*).

After the damaged tire was changed, which was already 10:30 am, we continued our long and winding journey, and I do mean long and winding. We reached the church at pass 11:00 am (I think), since the wedding ceremony was already finished. So we decided to go to Cherry’s house, where the wedding reception was done. There, we met the bride and the groom. They were already eating when we arrived, so, we also started getting food. Hehe. I guess, my joke to the bride before (“Saan ba yung reception, dun na lang kami pupunta?”) came true after all. Anyways, food was good, especially the Caldereta and Fish Fillet with mayo. After eating, we took some pictures, had conversations with the bride and the groom, had a couple of laughs, and the couple opened our gifts.

At the end of it all, after every trouble that we've encountered (I didn’t mention everything just to make the long story short), all of us are happy knowing that our friend is finally settling down. We just wish that they'll be happy and blessed…forever. :)

Below are some pictures that I took while the damaged tire was being replaced, during the wedding reception, and at Music 21 (where we went after).
